As you approach by ferry, an expansive civil war-era fort appears to rise out of the water on the horizon. Unlike forts you may have seen on school field trips, this one was built in the middle of the ocean. You are embarking on Fort Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas! Seven remote islands make up the Dry Tortugas, which is about 70 miles west of Key West, and a site not to be missed.

To feel worlds away, hop on a ferry and enjoy the time on the water. Comfortable, air-conditioned and fast, the ferry makes daily excursions to the Dry Tortugas.

During your voyage to one of America’s most remote National Parks, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Marquesa Islands and Boca Grande, and – if fortune is with you – turtle and dolphin sightings. The Yankee Freedom will take you to Dry Tortugas National Park and back again at a speed of up to 30 M.P.H. with safety and comfort like no other ferry operating out of Key West today.

For your comfort, our ferry also features a large and a fully air-conditioned main cabin with cushioned seats; three restrooms; fresh water shower, and; a full galley serving snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine, mixed drinks, film, and souvenirs.

The upper deck is open to the sea air and offers spacious seating, with areas to stretch out and enjoy the sunshine or a shaded sea view. There’s also a convenient cocktail bar, topside.

Onboard, comfort and convenience are the foremost priorities. Not only do we offer regular and diet soft drinks, but a variety of fresh fruit juices are also available. For adult guests, the vessel has two fully stocked bars featuring popular beers, wine, and liquor available for the return trip to Key West.
